The entire healthcare industry is focused on patient-centered care and it’s easy for that to become a buzzword and abstraction. But, when you have the chance to spend time with those who live with physical challenges and witness first hand their fight and determination, patient-centered takes on new meaning.
I had the honor of representing Tactile Medical at the recent Lymphatic Education & Research Network’s (LE&RN) 2017 Walk to Fight Lymphedema & Lymphatic Diseases. It is compelling to hear the stories and witness the determination of patients directly affected by lymphedema. We attend this walk on behalf of the more than 5 million Americans suffering from lymphedema, in the hope of ensuring that we improve diagnosis and treatment for this debilitating condition. While it was humbling to receive the 2017 LE&RN Impact Award, I am inspired to maintain our focus on innovating technologies and care models that put patients firmly at the center.
